Boot Waterproofing Recommendations

I personally use Sno Seal on my LL Bean Cresta Hiking boots and have for the last 10 years.

But - does anyone else have anything they really love to use?

Thanks!

  • I recently stopped waterproofing footwear, but I've used Nikwax for many years.

Nikwax is awesome - used that on some shell jackets.

Just curious - Why did you stop waterproofing?
I find my boots get heavy when they get wet if I don't waterproof,  since the leather soaks the water in.

  • I went for lightweight and breathability, so when the inside gets wet, both shoe and foot dry faster. I also dont have to stop at stream crossings to switch to sandals, which I no longer need to bring with me. I rarely hike in conditions that are constantly wet. Generally at most its patchy snow, half a day of rain, a couple miles of wet brush, etc.
